Photography Permits
The process for obtaining a Filming and Photography Permit begins with the applicant submitting a detailed request through the Sharjah Media Council portal, including a comprehensive project schedule and a list of desired locations. Central to this process is the submission of the project’s storyboard or/and script for review; our team evaluates this content to ensure it maintains strict compliance with the established code of ethics for the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Sharjah. While the Council oversees the creative and ethical alignment of the project and verifies location suitability, it is important to note that the applicant remains responsible for securing any specific administrative authorizations directly from the relevant entities or site owners. Once the review is complete, the permit is issued to the applicant to authorize the commencement of the project.
Applicants must provide a set of documents that facilitate both ethical review and legal identification. This includes a detailed storyboard, or script that clearly outlines the narrative and visual intent of the production for internal assessment. Along with the project brief, the applicant must submit or register with a valid Trade License for the media entity and the Emirates ID or Passport of the project supervisor and the crew. Additionally, a clear list of all proposed filming locations and a production timeline must be provided. While the Council reviews these for compliance, applicants should also have copies of their direct permissions from site-specific authorities ready for verification if requested.
