Media Council

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Emiri Decree No. 6 of 2017 regarding the establishment and regulation of the Sharjah Media Council, chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, with membership comprising the Sharjah Government Media Office, the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority across its various television and radio channels and stations, and Sharjah Media City – the Free Zone Authority “Shams.”

The Council sets the emirate’s media policy, enhances its media presence locally, regionally, and internationally, coordinates among all media institutions, and oversees the media free zones under its authority.

The establishment of the Sharjah Media Council reflects the successive achievements and outcomes of the media and communications sector in the Emirate of Sharjah. The Council continues to consolidate Sharjah’s media leadership, support the journey of innovation in the sector, and embody its vision: Responsible Media for an Aware Society.
